Small rooms, limited data.

Relay Room coordinates desktop Lichess broadcast views. It does not ask for your Lichess password, OAuth token, email address, microphone, camera, or browsing history.

Data kept in your browser

Extension or website local storage holds your chosen display name, panel preference where applicable, room membership, invitation details, and the anonymous SpaceTimeDB identity token used to reconnect the same browser.

Data sent to the realtime backend

• Your display name and anonymous SpaceTimeDB identity.
• The Lichess broadcast URL, current round, game, and move path.
• Room role, online state, follow target, and native board shapes.

The invitation secret is stored in a private server table. Room, participant, and shape tables are also private; identity-scoped server views expose them only to SpaceTimeDB identities that have joined that room. Anyone holding an invite URL can join, so share it only with intended commentators.

Retention

Leaving the last seat removes the room immediately. Otherwise room activity extends a 24-hour expiry marker, and an internal hourly cleanup removes expired room metadata, participant state, invite secrets, and saved shapes.

Website and third parties

This website is hosted on Vercel and contains no advertising or application-level analytics. Realtime room state is hosted on SpaceTimeDB Maincloud. The link-only guest retrieves broadcast metadata and PGN from Lichess’s public Broadcast API. Lichess continues to handle the original broadcast under its own policies.

Your controls

Use Leave room to delete your membership and shapes. Uninstalling the extension removes extension-local state; website data can be removed through the browser’s site-data controls. If an invite is exposed, leave that room and create a new one.

Relay Room is independent software and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Lichess. This policy applies to version 1.2.0.
